Lower Plymouth - Jean Nicholson, of the Valley View Villa, and formerly of Lower Plymouth, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow in 1921, she was the former Jean Gladys Chisholm, only daughter of the late Harold and Jeanette (MacPhee) Chisholm. She lived in New Glasgow until 1954, when she moved to Plymouth. She had worked for 20 years at MacLaughlin’s Flower Shop, retiring in 1978. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. She had a great interest in photography and had a special flair for documenting her photos. She enjoyed being in the company of friends while at a card game and had a fond affection for her furry friends, especially her dog Tammi. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and several special close friends. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1969, and special friend Leo Campbell in 1997. The family would like to express thanks for the care Jean received at Valley View Villa and thanks to the doctors and nurses in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Funeral service will take place at a later date. Burial will be in Lorne Street Cemetery at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to Valley View Villa Bus Fund or the Pictou County SPCA.
