Patricia Mary Power (nee Bruce)

Date de décès : 29 mars 2014

Patricia Mary Power (nee Bruce) of Jerseyside, Placentia, formerly of Argentia, passed peacefully away at home on March 29, 2014, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Predeceased by husband Philip Power, parents Patrick and Anna Bruce and parents-in-law Bernard and Elizabeth Power, brothers- Maxwell, Raymond, Alexander and Leo, and brother-in-law Eugene Kelly. Leaving to mourn her children Wayne (Elizabeth), Tim (Kim), Terry (Cherie), Yvonne (Dennis Hartley), Janet, Rhonda (Michael Williams) and Bruce (Shyla), her three sisters Annie Smith (John), Mary Kelly, Helen Griffin (Dave) and her brother Cecil Bruce (Anne), sisters-in-law Annie Bruce, Shirley, Madeline and Olive Power, brothers-in-law Derm (Rita), Eugene (Anne) and Jim (Aggie) Power, eight grandchildren: Matthew, Philip, Emilie, Marcus, John, Caleb, Jake and Lily, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Patricia was a long-time employee of Marine Atlantic and Argentia Naval Base. A storyteller, folk historian, and author, she gave willingly of her time to many community endeavours, especially local heritage projects. Equality and social justice were at the core of her being, so it was no surprise she loved to organize political campaigns years ago, serve on Town Council and discuss current affairs to the very end. Patricia also found time to run a small family business. She was a woman of dignity and strong principles, but she also recognized that family was always worth the sacrifice. Patricia's retirement years were spent enjoying the passage of time with her children and grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments and sharing her wisdom with them when called upon. Her life was full; her mind clear even during her final goodbye. Her spirit will continue to guide us. Waking at Maher's Funeral Home, Placentia Sunday March 30 and Monday March 31 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Funeral Mass from Sacred Heart Church, Placentia 11 AM Tuesday April 1, 2014. Interment to follow at Father Dermott McGettigan Cemetery, Southeast Placentia.

"I'm in good hands."
