Shirley Margaret Fulton
Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on April 5th, 2014 at the age of 87 surrounded by family.
Shirley was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia. She attended Mount Allison University where she was captain of the basketball team. She started her career in Fredericton at the local radio station and moved to Truro, continuing in the advertising department at the local station. She then became a teacher and taught at the local junior high school. Shirley was actively involved in the music and art communities as an artist and a volunteer. Shirley wrote and published “The Iron Man The Works of Frank Fulton” as a tribute to her husband, the love of her life. Shirley enjoyed being near the ocean and was passionate about gathering family and friends together. Shirley’s compassion, encouragement, and unending support touched many lives.
Pre-deceased by her cherished husband Frank and her parents, Donald and Ruby (Sutherland) McPhail, Shirley is survived by her loving children David (Cindy), Truro; Peter (Vickie), Vancouver; Stephen (Deborah), Truro; Jennifer (Rick), Bedford; Randy (Doris Melvin); Lower Sackville. She leaves her adored grandchildren Mason; Mandy; Crystal; Sydney; Brian; Richard (Tammy MacDonald); Kristy; Josh (Catherine Tingley); Darci; Pamela (Geoff) Halkett and great grandchildren Hunter and Gabriella. She also leaves behind her dearly beloved sister Fran Harding and brother and sister-in-law Donald and Ruth McPhail as well as dear friends Pat Swail and Lois MacLean, nieces and nephews, and friends.
