Mary Joan (Macaulay) Somers, graduate of Victoria General Hospital school of nursing, class of '51, died in Dartmouth April 14, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Douglas H. Macaulay and Margaret (Ormond) Macaulay and was born in Toronto.
She is survived by her husband Wilf Somers of Dartmouth, son Doug and his wife Caroline Somers of Ottawa, daughter Mary Brayman (Somers) of Huffenhardt Germany, and has three grandchildren: Caitlin and Michael Somers of Ottawa, and Mark Brayman of Dartmouth. Joan was predeceased by her brother Douglas Macaulay of Tuscon AZ.
Cremation has taken place. At Joan's request there will be no visitation. Family flowers only. Those who wish may make a memorial donation to the charity of their choice. A memorial mass is to be celebrated at Pope John XXIII, Cole Harbour, on Monday April 21st at 11:00 with a reception to follow.
