HAYES, EVELYN ALBERTA - Evelyn Alberta Hayes (nee Mercer), 68, of Jeffries Corner, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Sussex Health Centre. Born in Norton, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Janie Mercer. Evelyn is survived by her husband Walter Hayes; her daughters: Christine Gallant (Paul) of Sussex, Theresa McPhee (Tracy) of Jeffries Corner, and Nancy Carpenter (Peter) of Sussex; her sons: Walter Keith Hayes (Tammy) of Edmonton, and Kevin Hayes of Picadilly; her sisters: Vera Dunham of Petitcodiac, Patricia Grant of Norton, Ida Virtue (Ben) of Sussex Corner, and Sheila Nodwell (Dale Dyer) of Collina; her brothers: Clayton Mercer (Muriel), Victor Mercer, and Nelson Mercer (Heather), all of Norton; grandchildren: Natasha (John), Jeremy, Amanda (Justin), Justin, Brittany, Makayla, Matthew, Alex, Ella, Conner, & Charli; great-grandchildren: Lexie, Madison, Chase, & Rilynn; as well as by many extended family members and friends. Besides her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her brothers: Lawrence Mercer and Lester Mercer; and her sisters: Mary Tayes and Angela Murphy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex (506-433-2133), from where visitation will be held on Sunday April 20, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm; a Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Monday April 21, 2014 at 11:00 am with Fr. Arnie Hachey presiding. Interment will be held in the Wards Creek Cemetery at a later date.
