Dimock, Edwin “Eddie” James, 82, of Belmont, Hants County, passed away after a lengthy illness with Parkinson’s disease on Sunday, April 20, 2014 in the Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, where he had been a resident for the last two years. Born on January 19, 1932 in Belmont, Hants County. He was the son of the late Clarence and Effie (Benedict) Dimock. Eddie was employed with Windsor Textiles for several years in the 1950’s before beginning his lengthy service with the Department of Transportation. During his time there he worked in maintenance in Brooklyn then later moved to the construction survey crew and inspection until his retirement in January, 1993. He was an avid gardener who supplied many family and friends with vegetables from his garden over the years. Eddie was a member of the Newport Pastoral Charge of the United Church of Canada, where he served as an elder and was on many committees. He was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan and a life time supporter of the Progressive Conservative Party. Surviving are his wife of fifty one years the former, Ida Lyon; daughter, Celeste (Carl) Baxter, Timberlea; son, Reuben (Lianne), North River, Colchester County; grandchildren, Robert Dickson, Kaitlyn Baxter, Victoria “Tori” Dimock and Dylan Dimock; special niece, Beverly (Bruce) King, who was like a sister to Eddie; mother-in-law, Muriel Benedict, Dykeland Lodge, Windsor; brother-in-law, Robert (Pauline) Wagner, Shelburne along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by sisters, Grace Kilcup and her husband Gordon; Charlotte King and her husband Alfred; Rosamond Draper and her husband George; Rachael Wagner. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232),194 King Street, Windsor. Memorial service was held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Debra Mosher officiated. A private family Interment will be in the Belmont Cemetery, Belmont at a later date.
