It is with great sadness that the family of the late George W. Gardner announce his passing on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 85 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories: his wife of 64 years, Mary (nee Kearley); ­children: Daphne Preston (Brian), Brockville, ON and Brad (Daphne), Massey Drive; grandchildren: Scott (Kim), Jeff (Cynthia), Paul (Melissa) Preston and Kevin and Jenna Gardner; six great-grandchildren: Katie, Jessica, Madison, Isabella, Reid, Juliette; sister, Blanche Cooper, Gander; sisters-in-law: Fran Tavener, Corner Brook; Nellie Snow and Shirley Kearley, both of Topsail, CBS; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by son Randy; daughter, Linda and parents Martha & William. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, on Friday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 4:00 p.m. from St. Michael’s and All Angels Anglican Church, Park Drive; Rev. Canon Roberta Woodman officiating. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation.
