Peacefully and surrounded by her family at the Dr. John M. Gillis Memorial Lodge, Eldon, on Thursday, April 24, 2014, of Melvina "Vinie" Elizabeth Quinn (nee Connolly), formerly of Lake Verde and Watervale, age 92 years. Beloved wife of the late Ivan L. Quinn.
Vinie was born in Morell on March 13, 1922, and she was the last surviving member of William "Big Bill" and Elizabeth "Bessie" Connolly (nee Trainor).
Beloved mother of Marion Morrison (Norbie), Sheila Ewasiuk (the late Andy), Danny Quinn (Bernadette), Faye MacLeod (Ian), Kevin Quinn (Debbie) and Bernadette Quinn (Arnold). Beloved Grammie to Derek (Tara Deacon), Paul and Luke Morrison (Stephanie Walsh), Andrew Ewasiuk, Sherri (Randy Jewell), Erin Quinn (Curtis Doyle), Justin (Clancey), Jeffrey (Ledean), Matthew MacLeod (Shaunacea Fisher), Mark Quinn (Jennifer), Brian Quinn (Marina Facci), Dana MacDonald (Ryan) and Mitchell Quinn. Beloved great-grandmother of Ashley Gaudet-Morrison, Aiden Morrison, Madison Quinn, Maria, Jacob and Rosie MacLeod, Cole and Chase MacLeod, Addison Quinn, Eliana Facci Quinn and Isabella MacDonald. Vinie is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Tammy Quinn; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Cheverie and Joyce Connolly; and brother-in-law, Mike Byrne; as well as several nieces and nephews and her extended family - the residents and staff of Gillis Lodge.
She was predeceased by her son, Leo F. Quinn; granddaughter, Paulette M. Morrison; son-in-law, Andy Ewasiuk; parents, William "Big Bill" and Bessie Connolly (nee Trainor); brothers, Dr. Leonard Connolly (Estelle), Frank (Theresa) and Joseph Connolly; sisters, Lena, Mabel and Mary Connolly, Eileen Hughes (Allan) and Pearl Byrne; her mother and father-in-law, Louise (Holland) and Frank Quinn; brothers-in-law, Joe (Catherine) and Billy Quinn; sisters-in-law, Rita Boulay (Norman), Lorabelle Callaghan (Frank) and Gladys Passmore (Bill).
Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave., Stratford, for visitation on Sunday, April 27, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, Ft. Augustus, on Monday, April 28 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to St. Patrick's Cemetery Fund or the Dr. John M. Gillis Memorial Lodge would be appreciated.
