BANKS, SHANNON LEIGH - Shannon Leigh Banks of the Loch Lomond Village passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on April 24, 2014. Shannon was born in Campbellton November of 1976, the daughter of the late Bonnie (Mann) Banks and Bruce Banks of Saint John. She was a devoted daughter, sister and friend. She was a graduated of Simons High School Class of 1997 and worked at Key Industries until 2008. She enjoyed time with family and friends. Shannon was born with Congenital Myatonic Dystrophy. She wore twin leg orthotics from an early age and, later, swan neck rings on her fingers. Despite this she was active until a bad fall in 2011 resulted in her breaking both legs. Thanks to the long recovery time and her disease, she lost the ability to walk. This resulted in her admittance to the Loch Lomond Villa in 2012. And her move to the Loch Lomond Village as part of the ’young at heart’ population. Besides her father, Shannon is survived by her only brother and best friend Christopher Banks who lives at home; aunts, uncles and friends. Besides her beloved mother Bonnie, she was predeceased by the family pet canine companion A.J.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road. By request there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens, 715 Latimore Lake Road on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Loch Lomond Villa, time to be announced.
