We are saddened to announce the passing of Susan Helena Jackson on April 25, 2014 predeceased by her lifelong partner Herbert Hugh in 1995. Susan was born in Vienna and moved with Herbert first to England, ultimately immigrating to Newfoundland in 1951. Susan and Herbert engaged in an active social life in Newfoundland and became an integral part of the MUN community where Herbert taught Latin, French and German. Undaunted and with true spirit and determination Susan continued the traditional annual European trips to visit friends and relatives even after Herbert passed! Susan particularly enjoyed cross country skiing and amazed many who witnessed her still zipping along on skis just eighteen months ago. Susan loved Newfoundland and defended its honour, its people and exceptional beauty wherever she travelled. Special thanks to those who visited and shared a glass with Susan over the last few years. Especially Julie Frecker who visited daily to help, to the wonderful and patient staff at Kenny's Pond, the overnight staff from Caregivers and the thoughtful nurses at the Palliative Care unit. Susan leaves her sons Peter (Adelita Ragnitz) and Tom (Margaret Ann), her grandchildren Erin (Nick Jeffery), Kailey (Conrad Henkel), William Eaton (Shumin Chan), Jeremy Eaton (Meredith Baker), Sarah Eaton (Matthew Galbraith), and Emily Eaton (Nick MacCallum), and many dear friends and relatives here in Newfoundland, Canada and overseas.
