Clarence Targerson

Date de décès : 24 avril 2014

TARGERSON, Clarence Gilbert - Age 91. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, grandpa, uncle, cousin, and friend, Clarence Targerson. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Palliser Regional Care Centre on Thursday, April 24, 2014. The funeral was held Monday, April 28th at St. Olaf's Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Kiel officiating. Clarence's grandson, Derek Targerson, read the eulogy. The ushers were Clayton Schwartz and Rodger Stolson. The pallbearers were Lyle Burnett, Lester Burnett, Doug Burnett, Bryce Burnett, Rod Hunter, and Wayne Targerson.
Clarence is survived by his two sons, Greg and Cecil (Cathy); his two grandsons, Ryan and Derek (Kimberly); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Isobel (Burnett); by his parents, Knut and Christine; his siblings, Ted (Janette) Targerson, Hurley Targerson, and Lillian (John) Burnett; and his brother and sister-in-laws, Jean (John) Humphreys, James Burnett, Walter (Audrey) Burnett, Dave (Dorothy) Burnett, and Agnes (Howard) Hunter.
Clarence was born on May 28, 1922 on the farm, and was the youngest sibling of Knut and Christine Targerson. He attended Neidpath School and took over the family farm in 1946; coincidently, this was the same year that he married Isobel Burnett of Swinton, Sk. They had two sons: Greg in 1949 and Cecil in 1952.
In 1982 Clarence and Isobel bought a house in Swift Current and enjoyed playing crib at the Eagles, ice fishing, going on bus trips to various casinos, and making almost daily trips out to the farm to continue to help Greg with the everyday duties. Clarence was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and entered the Palliser Regional Care Center in December of 2003. He was visited each day for over ten years by his loving wife of 67 years, who always brought goodies and news of the family. His courageous battle with the debilitating disease ended peacefully on April 24.
Clarence will be remembered most for the love he had for his wife and family, his hard work, and his gentle personality. When playing horseshoes or crib, it was common for him to mention "winner gets a beer". The family would personally like to thank all the staff and caregivers on the 2nd floor of the Palliser Regional Care Center. We always knew that Clarence received the highest level of care and compassion and was treated as one of their own. In his memory, donations can be made to the Palliser Regional Care Centre, 440 Central Ave South, Swift Current, Sk. S9H 3G6.
