It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Vivian Marie MacKillop (Feetham), who passed away on April 29, 2014, at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Cheticamp, N.S.
Vivian was born in Truro on July 14, 1917. She graduated from Sydney Academy in 1935, and completed Business College in Sydney.
During her life she enjoyed writing music and poetry, playing piano, photography and reading mystery novels.
She worked for CJCB Television in Sydney and worked in real estate until her retirement. She spent a great deal of time in Loch Lomond and in Ingonish with her family.
Vivian is survived by her daughter Anne Phillips, Sydney; sons, Bruce MacKillop, Sydney and Alan MacKillop (Carol), Dieppe; grandchildren, Charlie ( Laura), Donna, Kimberly (Martin) Dianne (Gary) and Debbie (Sheldon); great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Hilary, Matthew, Lily, Théo, Emma, David, Ella, Olivia, Caitlyn and Brendan.
She was predeceased by her father Charles Saunders Feetham, mother Elizabeth 'Bessie' McNutt and her daughter Carole Elizabeth Gabriel. She was also predeceased by her former husband George MacKillop of Sydney.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Palliative Care department, Cheticamp or to the charity of ones choice.
The family would like to make a special thank you to her palliative care nurse Jackie Doucette and all the staff at Foyer Pere Fiset and the Sacred Heart Hospital in Cheticamp who provided exceptional care and compassion during her final journey.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St. Sydney, with Pastor Ron Coole officiating.
