Passed away peacefully at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on April 25, 2014, Mr. Hedley S. Powell of Goose Cove in his 83rd year. Hedley leaves to mourn his wife of 59 years, Mary Ellen Powell; children Marie (Wilf), Norm, Phyllis, Judy, Patricia (John), Olive (Chris), Marina (Mike), Roxanne (Darrell) and Derrick (Bonnie), as well as his siblings Beulah Parsons, Lydia Roberts, Sadie Parsons, and Don Powell; grandchildren Shelly, Christopher, Audrey Sara, Jordan, Denata, Jesse, Alysha, Alexandra, Anika, Adam, Patrick, Andrew, DJ, Johanna, Emily and Samuel; great-grandchildren Caleb, Clinton, Jesse, Jorja and Oliver. Visitation took place at the funeral home in St. Anthony, followed by the funeral service at the Immaculate Conception Church in Goose Cove at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 28 with Fr. Anthony officiating. Burial followed the service at the Goose Cove Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.
