Lieu de décès : Halifax, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 28 avril 2014

NOWLAN, FRANK - Frank Nowlan of Halifax, Nova Scotia, formerly of Moncton, New Brunswick and Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, died peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2014. He was a good son and brother, a good husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his family and many friends. He was born in Bouctouche, New Brunswick in 1921, the son of Joseph and Barbara Nowlan (Babee Richard). He joined the Canadian Armed Services in 1939 and served overseas in World War II. He continued his army career, retiring in 1966 as a Staff Sergeant in Signals Corp. He worked for Maritime Tel and Tel until 1982. He met many challenges in life: learning English at age 16, graduating from high school in 1969, surviving World War II as a young man of 19. His family thought he could fix anything- and in fact he built his cottage and many furnishings himself. An artist, he created stained glass lamps and gifted them to many people. He was a comedian extraordinaire, with a funny joke or story for every occasion. He and his wife Eva (deceased March 2014) were married 67 years. They spent many wonderful years as “Snowbirds” in Florida and enjoyed their retirement immensely - playing golf and cards, travelling and having as much fun as possible. He is survived by his daughters Maureen (Bedford, NS) and Barbara (Austin, TX), son-in-law Richard Peckham (Bedford, NS), grandson Peter Vail and his wife Danielle (Oklahoma); granddaughter Lisa Cole and her husband Jonathon (North Carolina). He was the second oldest of 11 children and is survived by his brothers Roger (SK) and Peter (NB), and his sister Dorilla Nowlan (NB).
