He was a son of the late Frederick and Gertrude (Armstrong) Boyd. Grant served as a member of the RCAF stationed in Quebec and Prince Edward Island. Following the war he teamed up with his brother Fred and father Fred T. Boyd, Sr. to form Boyd’s Transfer Company which saw the changing of an era, as horse and wagon gave way to motor vehicles. He was especially proud of his efforts in introducing the Senior Citizens Bus as a valued community service. Grant was a life-long active member of the Windsor United Baptist Church, having served as a deacon and member of the male choir. Grant was instrumental in the introduction of the Sunday evening summer outdoor drive- in services. He enjoyed many years performing with several musical groups. During these travels their gift of music was always welcomed and appreciated. In his retirement Grant took great pleasure in attending agricultural exhibitions to take in his favorite events-the oxen and draught horse pulls. He took particular delight in the achievements of his children and grandchildren. Although Grant was a Windsor Boy, as former Head Master, John Derrick, once told Grant’s wife Mona: “Grant is a true country gentleman”.
