Ethel Knowles
KNOWLES, ETHEL VIVIAN - 1923 - 2014 - Ethel Vivian Knowles passed away May 10th at the Moncton Hospital. Ethel was born in Guysborough, NS, she was a daughter of William and Alice (Wood) Imlay. Ethel was a veteran of World War II serving with the RCAF. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion Herman J. Good Branch #18, Bathurst, a life member of OES Bathurst Chapter #22 affiliated with Frank H. Tingley Chapter #5, Moncton - a past matron of both chapters and held many other offices. She was an honorary member of Miramichi Chapter #44, a member of IODE past Regent. She was a member of the United Church, a life member of UCW, taught Sunday School, CGIT and Explorers. She loved family gatherings, curling, shopping, reading and doing puzzles. She is survived by three sons, Duncan (Bernice); Mark (Irene) both of Riverview; Kirk (Brenda) of Fort Myers, Florida; one daughter, Wanda (Byron) of Moncton; sister, Vera (Lewis) Johnstone of New Glasgow, NS; sisters-in-law, Betty of Halifax, NS; Viva and Helen of Bathurst; twelve grandchildren, Jody, Ryan, Shawna, Steven, Tanya, Sherry, Sheryl, Shannon, Erin, Holly, Shelby and Devin; fifteen great-grandchildren, Jordan, Bryan, Allie, Paige, Jalen, Julia, Ariana, Brandon, Caleb, Libby, Dawson, Maya, Phoenix, Jaxon and Chloe; step-grandchildren, Amanda and Angela; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Winston in 1999, three brothers, Robert, Douglas, Ralph; three sisters, Elsie, Dorothy and Kathleen; and step-grandchild, Jordan.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 1:00 to 3:00pm. The service will follow at 3:30pm with Rev. Christine McLeod officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held following the service. The interment will be in First United Church Cemetery, Bridge St., Bathurst, at a later date. Donations made to The NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
