Passed peacefully away on Monday, May 12th, 2014 at the Health Sciences Centre, Phyllis Somerton, age 84 years, of Portugal Cove. Predeceased by her husband, Gordon in 1999; son-in-law Herb Kane in 2011; brothers: Victor, Harold, Levi, John and Caleb; sisters: Blanche, Doreen, Evelyn, Sarah, Emma, Vera and infant sister Doreen. Leaving to mourn her loving children: Lynn Kane, Carl (Marie), Eric, Paul, Gail and Fabian (Donna); four grandchildren: Jim Kane (Jennifer), Crystal Winter (Travis), Justin Somerton and Jason Somerton; great-grandson Nolan Kane; brother, Fred Churchill (Sadie); sister-in-law, Wilhelmina Miller (Wilf); brother-in-law Nelson Legrow; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thank you to the nurses of 5 South-A and to Dr. Barry Rose for his many years of care and caring. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, 2-9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10-12 noon Thursday. Funeral service on Thursday, May 15th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Lawrence Anglican Church, Portugal Cove.
