Dr. Nigel Lester Firth

FIRTH, Dr. Nigel Lester, died peacefully at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, Nova Scotia, with brother Ed at his side on Monday, May 12, 2014, aged 74. Educated at Harrow School; Edinburgh, Purdue and Cornell Universities. A farmer (Langskaill, Rousay), OIC councilor, latterly associate professor, Department of Plant & Animal Sciences, Dalhousie University Faculty of Agriculture, Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada. Musician (piano, accordion, organ, voice, bell choir) and beloved brother, uncle, cousin, Nigel will be greatly missed by family, friends, colleagues and fellow band/choir members. Cremation has taken place. A service and celebration of Nigel's life will take place at St. James Presbyterian Church, Truro, Nova Scotia, Friday, May 16th at 11:00 am with the Rev. Glenn Sampson presiding. A reception will follow in the Lower Hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. James Presbyterian Church or a charity of choice. A memorial service and committal of ashes will take place later in Orkney, details to be announced in the Orcadian.
