Carleton York Krasowski, born Dec. 8, 1946, to Jospeh and Margaret (Gushue) Krasowski of Sydney passed away peacefully on May 14, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a hard, lengthy battle with lung cancer.
Carl leaves to mourn his wife of 47 years, Paulette (Gabriel); three children, Paul (Jennifer), Gary (Kathy) and Connie (Sean) and seven grandchildren, Mitchel, Robyn, Emily, Daniel, Gennie, Dawson and Madyson and a great-grandchild, Alexis; his sister, Julie (Dave) Sheppard and brother, David (Donna) Krasowski. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Hector and twin grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Rebecca.
Born in Whitney Pier, he lived on Junction Road all his life. He spent much of his spare time fishing and hunting when not working around his property. Carl was an employee of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality for over 30 years before his retirement. Along with having been a heavy equipment operator, Carl was a talented and skilled carpenter, having built his and his brother's homes and worked on the homes of his friends. He treasured his grandchildren and loved to spend time with them. While sick, they raised his spirits with every visit.
Since Carl was a private family man, cremation shall take place and in keeping with his final wishes there will be no visitation. A private service was attended by the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Cape Breton Palliative Care, the Cancer Center, or the Salvation Army: Carl's most revered charity.
Paulette would like to thank the CBRH Cancer Centre, Outpatient Palliative Care, the Pier Medical Clinic, the VON (special thank you to Paul Letournal for his care and compassion), EHS ambulance attendants, the CBRH emergency department, and longtime co-workers and friends, Jack Lessie and Tucker Connahan, for their uplifting visits.
