ROACH, THOMAS "TOMMY" ANTHONY - Thomas "Tommy" Anthony Roach, 76, of Villa du Repos, Moncton, lost his battle with Alzheimer's disease on Saturday, May 17, 2014. Born in Main River, New Brunswick, Tommy served as a firefighter for 25 years with the Department of Emergency Services at the Moncton International Airport, later retiring from the airport as Maintenance Superintendent. Prior to his embarking on his career with the Moncton International Airport, Tommy was a heavy equipment operator who worked in Wabush, NL and on various projects in southern New Brunswick. He was also a former member of the 3rd Regiment of the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. Tommy thoroughly appreciated life and would delight in woodworking, golfing, skiing, hunting and fishing, and cherished boating on the Main River. Tommy had a very special sense of humour and enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and loyal friend. Tommy will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Jean (Barnes); son, Anthony "Tony" (Beverley) of Rothesay; daughter, Paula (Lachlan) of Saskatoon, SK; precious grandchildren, Meagan, Jillian, Tully, Caoimhe, Greg, Nick and Stephen. As well, Tommy is survived by his siblings, Geraldine Meunier, Betty Depres, Norma McNairn, Alberta Parlee, Carmel Whalen, Joanne Murphy, Rose Jean Cormier, Peggy Leger, Theresa Bernard, Mac Roach, Jimmy Roach and Hughie Roach; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, James and Bridget (McDermott) Roach, Tommy was predeceased by his sister, Ernestine (Savoy); and his brothers, Urban, Ivan and Raymond.
Visitation will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Tuesday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 10:30 am with Rev. Laurence Quin-Morris officiating. Reception in the funeral home reception centre following the service. Interment to follow at Saint Bartholomew Catholic Cemetery, Molus River.
