MORGAN, ELSIE MARIE - The death of Elsie Marie Morgan occurred at the York Care Centre on May 18, 2014 with her loving husband by her side. Born April 11, 1927 in Yarmouth, NS, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Landers) Shaw of Yarmouth, NS. Elsie received her primary education at Yarmouth Center School, followed by high school at Kingston Bible College Academy in Kingston, NS, and took secretarial training at Saint Ambrose Convent in Yarmouth. After working for a time in secular employment she sensed a call to missionary work and in pursuance of that call attended Bethany Bible College. In 1952 she and her husband, William (Bill) Morgan, sailed for South Africa as missionaries where they spent 33 fruitful years. Through all those years she was always totally engaged, serving in a variety of capacities including children’s ministries, hostess to visiting missionaries, church officials and conference gatherings. Perhaps her greatest contribution was as a secretary. With her husband deeply involved in ministerial training and later in administrative ministries, her secretarial training was invaluable. After returning to Canada she worked at Bethany Bible College as a secretary for a number of years. Elsie is survived by her husband, Bill; her children, Suzanne Ferriera (Dan) of South Africa and Murray Morgan of Sidney, B.C.; four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Including her parents, Elsie was predeceased by her brothers, Ivan and Willis and her sister, Winifred Brittain.
A visitation will be held at the Journey Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Journey Wesleyan Church on Wednesday, May 21 at 2:00 pm with interment to be held on Thursday, May 22 in Hawkins Corner Cemetery, Hawkins Corner, N.B. at 2:00 pm.
