CORMIER, J. GERALD “GERRY” - J. Gerald “Gerry” Cormier, 75, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, May 18, 2014. Born in Saint-Paul, he was the son of the late Desire and Yvonne (Roy)Cormier. Gerry was a retired mechanic with Universal Truck and Trailer, attended St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered regularly with the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation. He loved Swiss Chalet and spending time with his family. Gerry will be sadly missed by his daughters, Lorraine Whitton (Robert) of Irishtown, Cathy Fraser (Dwayne), Stacey Ward (Noel) and Nancy Gallant (Barry), all of Moncton; son, Donnie Cormier (Suzan) of Upper Coverdale; grandchildren, Stephanie, Cheryl, Michael (Alicia), Ryan, Alisha, Tyler, Zoe, Cynthia and Hayden; sisters, Leona Bongiovanni (Sal) and Lucy Boldis, both of New Jersey, USA and Anna Pitre of Coal Branch; several loving nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his parents, Gerry was predeceased by his wife of 45 years’, Patricia “Pat” Cormier (July 2007) and brother, Joseph F. Cormier.
Visitation will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Mass Celebrating Gerry’s Life will be held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 12:00 pm with Rev. Laurence Quin-Morris officiating. Reception to be held in the Parish Hall following the Mass. Interment, St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Adamsville. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of 6600 at The Moncton Hospital for the care and compassion given to Gerry during his stay and they would also like to thank Swiss Chalet Moncton for the meals brought to Gerry during his hospital stay. In Gerry’s memory, donations can be made to Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation (Oncology Dept.) or memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences at
