The death occurred suddenly with his loving family by his side at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, on Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, of Leonard Nelson Silk of Summerside, and formerly of St. Stephen, N.B., aged 84 years. Leonard was born on May 2, 1924, in Coles Island, N.B., to his late parents, Walter and Bessie Mae (nee Phillips) Silk. Beloved husband of Sara “Sally” (nee Nixon) and loving father of Gwendlyn “Dolly” Silk of Summerside, Dana (Jerome) of Ottawa, Ont., Dan and David both of Vancover, B.C. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Sarah (Justin) Rogers of Summerside, Amanda (Ben) Murphy of Miscouche and Dana Scherf-Silk of Kamloops, B.C., his three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived by his sisters, Norma Hay of Coles Island, N.B., and Betty Stevens of Codys, N.B. Besides his parents, Leonard was predeceased by his sister, Primrose Lewis and brothers, Cardiff and Emery. Following cremation, a Celebration of Life Service will be held in Coles Island, N.B. at a later date. Memorial donations in Leonard’s memory to the Summerset Manor Equipment Fund or the Alzheimer Society of P.E.I. would be greatly appreciated. No visiting hours by personal request.
