Kevin Joseph Willett

Date de naissance : 28 janvier 1941

Date de décès : 22 mai 2014

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Kevin Joseph Willett announce his passing at the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the age of 73 years. Kevin was born in St. Joseph’s Cove, Bonne Bay to the late John and Susannah (Hatcher) Willette. He spent his childhood living the traditional Newfoundland outport life until his father unexpectedly passed away. Kevin’s life changed dramatically that day when, at 14 years old, he had to assume the patriarchal role of a large family. As a result, he developed a strong, conscientious work ethic that would stay with him throughout his life. Kevin leaves behind his cherished wife and best friend of 47 years, Bernadette (Gregory), two daughters, Marie Louise and Catherine Ann, and his two beloved grandsons, Kevin and James. He will also be missed by his siblings: Annie (Joe White), Sam (Margaret), Phil (Peggy), Loretta (Neil Dolmage), John (Carole Anne), Helen (Wendell Forward), Kathleen (Fred Webster) and Terry (Lynn), as well as his in-laws Mary and Vince Power, Joe and Sue Gregory, and Charlie and Pat Gregory, and his many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law Gertrude and Robert Parsons, nieces: Sheila White and Diane Parsons, and nephews: Christopher Willette and Michael Power. While he leaves behind many wonderful memories of music and friendships, he will be remembered for his greatest passion: his family. Friends may visit Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Friday and Saturday. The Funeral Mass of will be held Monday, May 26, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer Parish, Mount Bernard Avenue, officiated by Father Ambrose Hynes. In keeping with Kevin’s wishes, cremation will take place with interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation or the Bay of Islands SPCA. The family guest book may be signed or memorial donations made by visiting our website at www.country-haven.ca

He was, above all, a family man.
