It is with great sadness that we, the grandchildren, announce the peaceful passing of our dear grandmother, Katherine Arlene MacQueen, at the MacGillivray Guest Home, Sydney, on Thursday, May 22, 2014, with family by her side.
Kay was born in Sydney on July 26, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Catherine (Huntington) Murchison. Kay devoted her life as a homemaker and to her only child, Bruce. She had an amazing sense of humour that will never be forgotten.
Surviving are her six grandchildren, Todd, Bruce, Deborah Muldoon, Jody Butterworth, James and Karen Pace; 13 great-grandchildren.
Katherine was predeceased by her son, Bruce MacQueen in 1984 and her daughter-in-law, Sharon in 2008. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Laura Oland, Edith Murchison and Thelma McCharles; and brother, Alden Murchison.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held in Resurrection Cemetery at a later date. Kay will be laid to rest with her beloved son, Bruce and her daughter-in-law, Sharon.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all the staff of the MacGillivray Guest Home, Rankin Road for their love and friendship shown to our grandmother and “Brucie” over the years.
