It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Judith Faye Wilson on Friday, May 23, 2014, at her home in the arms of her loving husband, William ‘Bill’ and her family.
Born in Glace Bay, Judith grew up with six siblings, all of whom she loved dearly. She was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Josie (Budge) Gilmet.
Judith was a very caring, loving person. In her early years, she loved baking, a trait she passed on to her daughter, Jodie. Judith excelled in everything she set out to do. She loved volunteering and enjoyed such hobbies as oil paints and crafts.
She was an avid reader and sports fan, always watching her favourite team the Pittsburgh Penguins compete for the cup. Judith was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her favourite times were spent making memories with her two grandsons, Jack and Beau. She will be greatly missed.
Judith attended the Cape Breton Business College and was employed at the Department of Indian Affairs, Membertou until the arrival of her greatest accomplishment, her daughter.
Judith is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, William ‘Bill’ Wilson, her daughter, Jodie Wilson (David Pitcher), Glace Bay, grandchildren, Jack Wilson Pitcher and Beau Wilson Pitcher, whom she adored. Also surviving are Judith’s siblings, Valerie Matheson, Halifax, Wanda Chisholm (Doug Campbell), Glace Bay, Randy Gilmet, Glace Bay, Cynthia Barrett (Tony), Mira.
She had many nieces and nephews whom she cherished, Micki Murphy, Krista Vigneault, Josie Barrett Watkins, Lauren Barrett, Victoria Barrett, Karla Danyluk, Jade Gillis, Tanya Wilson and Sonya MacDonald. Judith is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack Wilson (Rita ‘Muddy’), Sydney, Vina Lefevre (Howard), USA, Eric Wilson (Leana), Reserve Mines, Jerry Wilson (Linda), Halifax, and Ruth Cameron, Reserve Mines.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Myrna MacMullin is Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay, with interment to follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA.
