1928- 2014. Passed away peacefully on May 23, 2014 at the Miller Center (PCU). Predeceased by his parents, Ida and George Barter, his wife Mary Elizabeth (nee Butler), son George William, twin daughters Kathy and Audrey, his sisters Hilda and Florence and his brother William. Leaving with loving memories are his daughters Linda and Donna, daughter-in-law Angela, sister Hazel (Babs) Bogart; Grandchildren Jim, Melissa (Dan Short), Donald (Sasha Lester), Chrissy (Lindsey Pratt) and Chantelle; Great- Granddaughter Abby; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends, especially Barb, Harold and Barbara Anne Hefferton. Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at the Miller Centre (PCU) for their wonderful care and commitment to Donald during the last 4 months. Cremation has taken place. The general public are welcome to visit the family on Tuesday, May 27th from 2-4 and 7 -9pm at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John's, NL. A service of thanksgiving and remembrance will take place on Wednesday, May 28th, 2:30 p.m. at the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Interment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Diabetes Association.
