Patricia ‘Patsy’ Ann Young, 70, of Glace Bay, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Patricia ‘Pat’ (Stewart) McIntyre.
Patsy resided in Kitchener, Ont., for 50 years. While there, she was employed as a factory worker and was also a member of St. Daniel’s Church. Patsy loved watching her favourite movies on TV as well as going ice skating and swimming in her earlier years. She was also an avid reader. Patsy will be remembered as a hard worker and a loving mother, grandmother and sister.
She is survived by her three sons, Bill (Lany), David, Jerry, one daughter, Karen Graham (John), two sisters, Betty Langer and Gail Lynk (Kevin), four grandchildren, Matthew, Laura, Katie, Justin, Aunt Lolly Penny (Richard), family members, nieces, nephews and her best friend, Marnie in Kitchener, Ont.
Besides her parents, Patsy was predeceased by her husband, Robert ‘Bobby’ Young, one son, Robert ‘Bobby’ Young Jr., brothers, Ambrose ‘Bo’ McIntyre, Ross McIntyre, Daryl McIntyre and one sister, Sheila (McIntyre) Langer.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay, with Fr. Leo Boone officiating.
The family wish to express a sincere thank you to the VON, palliative care, homecare, Handi-trans, nurses at the CBRH and Glace Bay Hospital and Doctors Kodagoda and Khodadad for their care and support.
Memorial donations in Patsy’s honour may be made to the Cancer Society.
