It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Annie Mary MacLean on Monday, May 26, 2014, at the Northside General Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Born in North Sydney on May 28, 1932, Annie was the daughter of the late John and Sadie (White) Gouthro.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and her friends. Her favourite thing was to go dancing and her favourite saying was “Hi darlin”.
Annie is survived by her 10 children, Donnie (Mary) MacLean, North Sydney/Fort McMurray, Lisa Faulkner (Steve Blackie), North Sydney, Jackie MacLean (Sherry Matthews), Paul MacLean, both of Ontario, Diane (Dutch) Iannetti, Fort McMurray, Darren (Janice) MacLean, Ontario, Patsy (Craig) Ivey, Denise MacLean (Steve Cann), both of North Sydney, Brent MacLean (Julie Finney), Fort McMurray, Bonnie (Shawn) Hooper, North Sydney, her 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Rosalie (Reg) Dolhanty, Florence, Yvonne Dolhanty, Westmount, Delores (Ron) Cordes, Ontario, Sis (Jean) Barrett, Michigan, her brother David (Sandra) Gouthro, Iona, and many nieces and nephews.
Annie was predeceased by her husband Crawford 'Bobby' MacLean, brothers, Hilton, Eddie, Luke and Joey Gouthro and sisters, Stella MacLean and Edith Gouthro and special sister-in-law and friend Theresa Gouthro.
Special thanks to Dr. Doug Kohlsmith and nurses of the emergency department of the Northside General Hospital.
Visitation for Annie will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Cremation will take place on Friday and a funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of choice.
