CORMIER, OSCAR TERRANCE - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Oscar Terrence Cormier announce his peaceful passing on Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Moncton on April 19, 1946, he is the son of Clarence and Donalda (Mills) Cormier and loving husband to Linda (Ravenhill) Cormier and former husband to the late Paulette (Paddock) Cormier. Oscar was a hardworking man his entire life, always doing his very best to care for his family. He started his career with CN in Moncton as a Tamper Plasser Operator. He attended Bob Jones University and taught French at KBCA in Kingston, NS as well as at CFB Greenwood. He was respected and loved by all of his students. Oscar held many interests throughout his life, his favorites included many fishing trips, a love of guitar playing and adventurous “Road Trips”. Above all, time with his family was his most precious gift. He instilled and exemplified Godly character in the precious children he raised and was a true spiritual leader. Oscar was a kind, caring husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. His fantastic whistle, wonderful sense of humor and gentle smile will be deeply missed by his adoring family and all those whose lives he touched. He is survived by his loving wife Linda; son Jonathan; daughters Cindy Crossman (Jeff), Louanne Hallett and Melissa Cormier, brothers Anthony and Mickey (Mary); sisters Priscilla LeClair (Chris) and Phyllis Housego (Russ); four grandchildren Brendan, Holly, Victoria, Angelina; his in-laws Dean and Annie (Campbell) Ravenhill; as well as, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents and first wife Paulette, Oscar was also predeceased by his brother Robert Cormier and sister Claire Brace.
Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visiting Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A memorial service honoring Oscar will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 1 pm.
