Jodi Sherritt
SHERRITT, JODI - March 26, 1958 to May 17, 2014 -It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of our husband and father, Jodi Sherritt after a short 6 week battle with cancer. Jodi passed away at home in Yellowknife, NT on May 17, 2014 with family by his side. Born in St. Thomas, Ontario, Jodi was the adopted son of the late Dorothy (Barnes) and Keith Sherritt. Jodi grew up in Matheson, Ontario until the age of 17 when he then joined the Canadian Army and achieved a position in the distinguished Canadian Airborne Regiment. After leaving the Canadian Forces Jodi worked and lived all over Canada where he made many friends. At the age of 40 Jodi returned to school for the culinary arts and was employed as a cook/chef in many different kitchens across the country. Jodi’s sense of humour and easy going ways made him a pleasure to be around and of course you would just never know what he might say or do and look completely innocent with that twinkle in his eye (a trait that has been passed down to his pride and joy, daughter Megghan). Jodi was employed as kitchen manager by the Larga/Kitikmeot boarding Home where he developed a true respect and love for the Inuit people and culture. Jodi will be deeply missed by his wife Kim (Cole), daughter Megghan, father Keith Sherritt (Margaret), step- father Ken Olson (Trudy), brothers Brian (Sharon) and Darren, sisters Kim, Cheryl, Patty and Terry (Harold). Jodi will also be missed by the Cole family of Moncton and the McDonald family of PEI, as well as “his boys” Graham Tough and Ryan Gilliland for which he was very proud of for their individual accomplishments.
A celebration of life will be held at 3PM June 6, 2014 at the Yellowknife Curling Club. Donations can be made to Wounded Warriors Canada.
