Frances Marie Steele - 85, of Scott's Bay, Kings County, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014 at home. Born in Scott's Bay, she was a daughter of the late James A. and Gladys (Legge) Huntley. She received her formal education of Grade 11 and accepted a position teaching Grades Primary to Six in Scott's Bay. She had been employed at the general store in Scott's Bay and the Acadia Lines bus terminal restaurant in Kentville. She attended the former Kings Regional Vocational School for three years, receiving her secretarial training and assisted her husband, Homer throughout his many business endeavors. She was a member of Valley Cornerstone Pentecostal Assembly, Hillaton and was affiliated with Kingsway Assembly, Kentville. She was a member of the Union Church of Scott's Bay Auxiliary and the Scott's Bay Women's Institute, where she assisted with many fund raising activities and volunteered with the organization of Bay Days. She enjoyed Tai Chi and was the oldest member of her class. She was an avid reader and walker. She is survived by her husband, Homer; two daughters, Helen "Louise" (Eugene) Misner, Scott's Bay; Dale (John) Steele Nicolov, Sackville, New Brunswick; a brother, Albert (Nellie) Huntley, Edmonton; three grandchildren, Joellan, Chad and Jeffery; four great grandchildren, Maya, Landon, Laughlin and Taylor; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Charlotte; two sisters, Helen Huntley and Shirley Thorpe. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, Reverend Robert Cross and Reverend Terry Penney officiating. Burial took place in the Union Church of Scott's Bay Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Union Church of Scott's Bay Cemetery.
