It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Dorothy “Dee Dee” Pearl Oulton (nee Curry) announce her sudden passing on Saturday May 31, 2014 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Center in Amherst, NS at the age of 80. Born October 7, 1933 in Amherst, NS, she is the daughter of the late Joe and Helen Curry.
Her early life was spent in Amherst, NS where she attended school and loved playing on the basketball team. After completing her education, Dee Dee worked for Maritime Tel&Tel. While working there she met her lifelong friend Helen Sweeney and her husband Clarence “Bill”. Dee Dee and Bill were married on August 1, 1953. After their wedding, Dee Dee and William lived in Springhill where they raised their two sons, William “Billy” and Donald “Donnie”. Dee Dee always loved playing cards, bowling, going to the beach and spending time with her family and friends.
Dee Dee was the most wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and faithful friend and will be sadly missed her husband Clarence “Bill” of Springhill; sons William “Billy” of Port Alberni, BC and Donald “Donnie” of Springhill; granddaughters Sheila Laundry (Matt) of Leduc, AB and Hayley (Chris) of Springhill; grandsons William “Billy” of Alberta, Dylan and Brandon of Springhill; great-grandchildren Hayden, William and Evan; brothers Walter “Junior” Curry (Carolyn); sister Linda Babineau (Brian) of Port Coquitlam, BC; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Aside from her parents, Dee Dee was predeceased by brother William Curry (Pearl) of Oakville, her sister Joyce Peacock (Arnold) of Amherst, brother Donald Curry (Shirley) of Ontario.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A H Brown’s Funeral Service, 5 McFarlane St, Springhill, NS (902-597-2361). Cremation has taken place and a funeral service and burial will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Main Street, Springhill on Wednesday June 4, 2014 at 1:30pm.
