It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Margaret Joanne Blades of Stillwater Lake, on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Victoria General Hospital.
She was born in Glace Bay.
Joanne’s greatest interest and love was her family and friends. She will be sadly missed but her caring spirit will live on in all of us.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years Kevin; her son Darren (Victoria); daughters Christie (Tim) and Danielle (Roughan) all of Halifax; her father Joseph and mother Valerie; brother Joseph, all of Glace Bay; her sister Mary (Stephen); two grandchildren Leo Gillis and James Blades, all of Halifax.
Joanne was on the Deans Honor List at the Sydney Campus. She graduated from St F.X. University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She was employed with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce under their management training program. She taught banking at the business school for two years. She obtained a certificate in a training course from Dalhousie University. She was Manulife Bank Mortgage Administrator and Maritime Business College Banking Instructor..
Five pin bowling was one of Joanne’s greatest passions. She was an ambassador for the sport for over 32 years. She won a bronze medal on an all star team at the Nationals. The family would like to thank the many caregivers who treated Joanne like a family member. Especially the Oncology, Radiology and Palliative Care units at Capital Health in Halifax as well as support from the VON’s.
