It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved companion, father, grandfather, brother and uncle Paul Noel Samms, 51, on Saturday June 7, 2014, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney.
Born in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland, Paul was a son of the late Wilson and Yvonne (Gallant) Samms.
Paul was employed for a number of years in the forestry industry later working out West in the Alberta oilfields. Paul enjoyed travelling, hunting, but especially good times spent with family and friends.
Paul is survived by his wife Margaret Quirk, his children Jennifer Samms and Jonathan Samms, both of Fort McMurray, Alberta, his granddaughter Portia, step-grandson Robert John Chaffey, his brothers Jimmy (Gail), Mount Pearl, N.L., David, Fort McMurray, Bernard (Nancy), Benoit Cove, N.L., his sister Joan (David) Blanchard, Stephenville Crossing, N.L., also a number of nieces and nephews, his good friends Dave Farrell and Bill Quirk.
Besides his parents Paul was predeceased by a sister Betty Payne and a brother Kenny.
No visitation by request. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Columba United Church, Leitches Creeek, with Rev. Tom Whent officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney.
