Susie Soper (Ivimey) Fleming

Passed peacefully away with her family by her side at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on June 6, 2014, aged 91 years. Predeceased by her husband, Allister; and parents: Dr. Samuel and Beatrice Ivimey. Left to celebrate her life are her children Blair (Belinda) and Lynn (Ian Coll); and her grandchildren Laura and Robert Fleming who she loved dearly. Also left with memories are her sister-in-law Velma Cluett; and nieces Donna, Barbara, and Jennifer and nephew Robert. Sue grew up in Clarke's Beach which she considered to be God's country for her entire life. She took teacher training at Memorial University College. Sue lived at the Residence on Long's Hill and met her future husband there and also formed many lifelong friendships. She taught Grade 3 boys at Holloway School and always remembered her boys fondly. She left the teaching profession when she married and became a devoted wife and mother. She was a dedicated member of Gower Street United Church all her adult life until she was prevented by illness. She enjoyed travel, a game of cards (especially bridge) and loved to socialize with her many friends - she was always up for an excursion. Cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Barrett's Funeral Home 328 Hamilton Ave on Monday, June 9 2014 from 7-9pm. Funeral service will take place at Barrett's Chapel on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 1:00pm followed by inurnment beside Allister at Mount Pleasant Cemetary. Special thanks to Amy Adams RN, Dr. Sandi Ennis and all the staff who provided excellent care to Sue at St. Pat's Mercy Home.
