Robert (Bobby) Lee Clarke of Fort St John, British Columbia, passed away suddenly May 26, 2014 in a tragic vehicle accident on the Alaska Highway, north of Fort St John, BC.
Bobby was born in Fort St John, BC, January 29, 1977. Bobby grew up in Baldonnel, BC enjoying country living and outdoor sports. Bobby was competitive from an early age on and always loved a challenge. At the tender age of 4 years, Bobby entered Mutton Busting competitions at local area rodeos. At the age of 6 years old, with great enthusiasm, he progressed to racing his Aunt Melody’s Shetland pony in the pony flat races. Bobby loved sports and played on the Baldonnel Elementary Basketball team. He enjoyed playing baseball in the Taylor Minor Ball League and won The Most Valuable Player award on several occasions. Bobby was a voracious reader, devouring books, and won an Achievement award for his reading abilities in elementary school.
As Bobby grew older, he left behind his four legged friends, and his interests evolved into motorized vehicles. Bobby was a good mechanic and was often repairing his pickups, snowmobiles and motor bikes.
Bobby had three daughters, whom he cherished, and often referred to them with pride as ‘his girls’. Taylor Crawford, born in 2005. Alex and Victoria Clarke from his marriage to Nicole Fleet, whom he married in June of 1999. Though Bobby and Nicole separated in 2007, they remained good friends until his recent death.
Bobby met Crystal Sundham, his partner of 6 years, at the Groundbirch Store while working in the area. While Bobby was dedicated to his work, they did take the time for a three week vacation in Mexico prior to his death. Bobby thoroughly enjoyed this time away from work, as is evident in the many photographs taken during this time.
Bobby loved working on the rigs, starting as a roughneck and working his way up to a tool push position. Shortly before Bobby’s death, he incorporated a consulting company, and was planning to strike out on his own as a consultant to service rigs. Bobby met many people throughout his years working the rigs and close friendships, lasting his lifetime, were forged.
Bobby is survived by his daughters, Taylor Crawford, Katherine Alexina and Victoria Clarke. His parents, Brad and Susan Clarke. His brothers, Bradley Clarke, Roy Clarke (Shalon Guilbeault), Kory Clarke, his sister Niki (Jeff) Shipton. His Grandmother, Shirley Clarke, his partner of six years, Crystal Sundham, his good friend’s Nicole Clarke and Dave Davis. And his many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
