It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Margaret 'Peggy' Rutledge, 83, of New Waterford on June 8, 2014, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney, N.S.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Hector and Katie (MacNeil) MacNeil.
In earlier years Peggy was employed with Nova Lite and Deluxe Dry Cleaners. Later, she worked at Udovans and more recently Sears in New Waterford until her retirement. She was a member of the former St. Agnes parish, curently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. She enjoyed crafts, especially quilting, sewing and crocheting.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Paul; daughter Paula (Karl) Schust, Halifax; sisters, Anna Lever, New Waterford, Madeline McCarthy, Sydney, and Gina Creighton, Massachusetts; nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers, Jim, Johnny, Roy and Matthew.
Visitation will be held today (Tuesday, June 10) from 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, June 11 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens with a luncheon to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, New Waterford.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia.
