KNOCKWOOD, GLORIA JEAN - (1947 - 2014) - PORTLAND, MAINE - Gloria Knockwood, 67, of Portland, Maine passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at her home. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late William John Knockwood and Mary Margaret Barlow. She was a proud member of A.A. with 35+ years of sobriety. She attended Blessed Kateria Tekakwitha Church in Indian Island, NB. Her lifelong love of fitness, she worked as a licensed fitness instructor at Women's World. She was a hairstylist and did leather work. She will always be remembered for her love, kindness and her passion for her family, fitness and her sobriety. She would share her struggles to bring knowledge and strength to others. She loved going to A. A. round ups and Pow Wows. Everyone loved her great sense of humor and her laugh. Gloria will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Catherine K. Fournier, Sarah M. Fournier; one son, Mel O. Fournier and her two grandsons, Evan and Kaine who were the light of her life. She is survived by one brother, James Knockwood of Indian Island, NB, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and the father of her children, Mel Fournier. She was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Vincent Knockwood.
Visitations will be held at the home of her brother, James Knockwood at 192 Island Drive, Indian Island, NB beginning on Friday at 2:00 pm until time of the funeral. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 am, Blessed Kateria Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church, Indian Island. Interment will be in the parish cemetery and it was her wish to be laid in peace beside her mother, Margaret and her brother, Vincent. Arrangements are in care of Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto (506-523-4252).
