Linda Sturgess, 63, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at her residence in Glace Bay.
Born in Dingwall, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late William and Flora Mae (Fraser) MacKinnon.
Linda’s favourite hobbies were going to bingo, reading, sitting by a fire in her backyard and going for long drives with her husband, Gary.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Gary, her daughter, Elaine (Ilya) Koitsan, Ontario, two sons, Carl (Jennifer), Ontario, Brian at home, four grandchildren, Mason And Alexis Koitsan, Taylor and Lauren Sturgess, three brothers, Leo (Margaret), Cape North, Charlie (Margie), Alberta, Alex, Dingwall and four sisters, Christy, Alice, both in Neil’s Harbour, Patricia, Gabarus Lake, Willena (Wayne), Sydney.Linda is also survived by her sister in law, Betty (Ernie Hillier), North Sydney and her best friends Mary and Weggie Parsons.
Besides her parents, Linda was predeceased by two brothers, Stevie, Danny and four sisters, Katie, Sadie, Jessie and Rose.
No visitation. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the cancer society or a charity of one’s choice.
