Dec 9, 1929 - June 24, 2014 - Passed peacefully on June 24th, 2014 at St. Clare's Hospital, Philip Field, aged 84 years of Mount Pearl, son of the Late Valance and Mary (Codner) Field. Left to mourn with many loving and happy memories his wife Frances (nee Jones); daughters: Valerie (husband Craig Stewart) of Ottawa and Andrea (husband Danny Maher) of Mississauga; beloved grandchildren: Erin and Eleanor Stewart and Nathan and Hailey Maher; also brothers and sisters: Mildred Skanes (Charlie deceased), Laura "Lolly" Carter (Gus), Eric (Helen) and Les (Florence deceased); nieces, nephews and their families. Phil will be remembered by many members of Lions Clubs International of which he has been an active member for almost 60 years. He held many offices on both club and district levels and received a number of awards including the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He was active in the Church of the Good Shepherd and will be remembered there, especially for his involvement in the annual Arctic Char Dinner. He took part in other community activities including meals on wheels and was Citizen of the Year in Mount Pearl for 1996. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation on Wednesday, June 25th from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, June 26th from 10-12 noon, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service on Friday June 27th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from Church of the Good Shepherd, Richard Nolan Drive, Mount Pearl. Cremation to Follow. Flowers gratefully declined.
