DYCK – Jake (November 8, 1928 – June 22, 2014) was born and raised in Saskatchewan and spent majority of his adult life in the Swift Current area. He was a man of many hats, not only collecting hats and pens but also working a variety of jobs. He started as a young man working at the horse plant and then moved on to truck driving, carpet installation & sales, a golf course owner, store operator, building and racing stock cars, construction and repaired houses. He retired from his career as custodian for the Swift Current School Division. He is survived by; 2 brothers Hank and Ben Dyck; his wife Elizabeth (married July 27, 1952), and their four children; Vera Fehr, Roger Dyck, Vick Dyck and Elizabeth McCann. Jake is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Anna; 7 brothers and sisters: Anna Penner, Susanna Wiens, Bill Dyck, John Dyck, Issak Dyck, Agnes Wiens, Dave Dyck and siblings Peter and Anna at birth. He has out lived numerous brother and sister-in-laws and one son-in-law Gale Fehr. Many people in the area knew Jake and he was liked and loved by all. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home with Hilda Whitell officiating. The interment will take place at a later date.
