ROUSSELLE, ALBENIE P. - He died as he lived... in peace, in acceptance, with a loving heart. Ben (Albenie) Rousselle died peacefully at home Thursday, June 26, 2014. Born and raised in Miramichi, the son of Joseph and Judith (Drysdelle) Russell, he was very proud to be in his 99th year. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings; his wife, Ruth Rice; and his daughter, Connie Fox (Andy). Surviving are Judy Burnham (Jim) and Gregory Rousselle (Alberta); and grandchildren, Michaela Green (Chris), Eric Fox, Christopher (Heidi), Andrew (Allison), Brother Timothy, SOLT, Catherine, Brother John, FOH, Gabrielle (Sr Angela, FOH) and Michael Burnham and Adam and Evan Rousselle. Great-grandchildren are Eva, Jacob and Noah Burnham, Libby and Maddie Burnham and Connor Green. In his early years, Ben developed tuberculosis and was sent to the River Glade Sanatorium where he met his lovely wife, Ruth. They married in 1950, moved to Saint John (Ketepec area) and Ben began work as an X-ray technician at the East Saint John Hospital, the DVA and the Saint John Regional. Ben and Ruth had three children - Connie, Judy and Gregory. Ben was a passionate musician, playing in a band and delighting in every opportunity to share his musical talent. He coached KBM Little League Baseball for many years and had the honour of having their field named after him. Eventually, Ben moved in with Judy and her family and lived there until his death. A lifelong Catholic, Ben was a member of St. Augustine's, St. Matthew's, St. Rose and St. Peter's churches over the years.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 29 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church at Clarendon St, Saint John on Monday, June 30 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at St Augustine's Cemetery.
