With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Henry Joseph Bernard age 81 years, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Friday, June 27, 2014, of 416 Maple Avenue, Summerside. Born in St. Philippe on September 29, 1932, son of the late Emilien and the late Ida (nee Cormier) Bernard. Beloved husband of Antoinette (nee Maddix) Bernard and loving father to Richard (Tracy Ellis) Bernard, Miscouche; Francine (Douglas) MacArthur, Richmond; John (Karen) Bernard, Summerside; and Edward (Dr. Francis) Bernard, Boston. Henry was a passionate grandfather to Jennifer (Sebastien), Tyler, Katherine (Craig), Suzanne, Jonathon, Rachelle and Malcolm. Will be forever remembered by his sisters Clairisse (Edmond) Daigle, Albina (Alfred) Arsenault, Rosie Gallant, Louise (Léo) Poirier, Marguerite (Desmond) Arsenault and brother-in-law "Hank" Henry Landry. Predeceased by his parents, sisters Marie and Melina and brothers-in-law Albin, Jérome and Fidèle. Resting at the Evangeline Co-op Funeral Home, Urbainville, until Monday, June 30, then to St. Philippe and St. Jacques Church, Egmont Bay, where funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
