THURROTT, LEE - 1935-2014 - Lee Thurrott of Riverview passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the Moncton Hospital at the age of 78. Born in Newcastle Bridge, NB, he was the son of the late Harry and Gladys Thurrott. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Scott (Phyllis) and Trevor (Lori); and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his siblings, Elizabeth Keeler, David, Paul and Norman. Lee enjoyed a long career as an engineer with Via Rail and CN Rail, before retiring in 1999. He was an avid sports fan and a season ticket holder of the Moncton Wildcats since the team's inception. Along with being a member of the Moncton Press Club and CN Pensioners, he was a vintage car enthusiast, enjoyed woodworking and held many memorable yearly horseshoe pitch tournaments at his beloved camp in the Glades.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Cobb's Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007), on Thursday, July 3, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, with the funeral service to be held at Cobb's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Friday, July 4, at 1:00 pm, with the Reverend Carol Mullin officiating. Interment will take place at Fair Haven Cemetery. Donations made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation, Moncton SPCA or a memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
