It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Melva J. Jackson, on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Henrietta (Howard) Snow. She was a devoted member of Trinity Anglican Church. She was a choir member for a number of years, and also a member of the Altar Guild.
She is survived by her husband Arthur, Sydney Mines; son Allan (Jenny) Jackson, and grandson Clayton, all of Florida, and some very special friends. She is also survived by her sisters Shirley MacNeil, Sydney, Loretta (Peter), Main-A-Dieu; a brother Howard (Dolly), Sydney; and sister-in-law Brenda Snow.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother Barry.
The family would like to thank Palliative Care, and Dr. Andrew Wawer and his staff for all they did for Melva during her illness.
Visitation for Melva Jackson will be held in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, at 11 a.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating. The burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. A reception will be held in Grandy Hall, following the service.
Donations in Melva’s memory may be made to Trinity Anglican Building Fund, Palliative Care, or a charity of one’s choice.
