Arnold Buck

BUCK, ARNOLD CHESTLEY - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Arnold Chestley Buck which occurred on July 8, 2014 after a courageous battle with Mesothelioma cancer. Born January 7, 1932 in Saint John, Arnold was the son of the late Leonard and Anna (Whitenect) Buck. A devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with family. He will be sadly missed by his wife Donna (Little) of 56 years. His children: Wayne (Carol) Norfolk VA, Debbie Cyr (Phillip) Saint John, Brian (Theresa) Saint John, Marty Arsenault (Roland) Kingston NS, Crystal (David Collins) Saint John and Jane (Peter Woytiuk) Saint John. His Grandchildren: Alexander Buck (Kayla), Matthew Buck, Michael Cyr (Alisha), Stephen Cyr (Carla), Jessica Buck, Christopher Barrieau, Jessica Arsenault (Michael), Cody Arsenault, Dallas Arsenault, Jeffrey Wiggins (Sara), Nathan Wiggins (Lauren), Joe Woytiuk and Sam Woytiuk. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Darrell (Doreen), Denton (Marilyn), Margaret Sprague (Arthur), Heather Wills (Douglas), Murray Beesley, and Marjorie Moore. Sisters-in-laws Constance Hansford and Joann Messinger. Arnold was predeceased by brother Norville and sister Delores Graham. Arnold was a loyal employee of the Saint John Fire Department for over 32 years retiring with the rank of Captain in 1991. He was an active member of St. Mary & St. Bartholomew’s Church, where he served as a vestry member for many years and as chair of the property committee. He was a member of the Simonds Lions Club for over 30 years where he chaired several committees. He was awarded the distinguished Melvin Jones Award and received a Life Membership in the Lions Foundation of Canada. His hobbies included golf, cribbage, bowling, shuffleboard and wood working.
Resting at Brenans Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday, July 9 and 10th 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at St. Mary & St. Bartholomew’s Church, 646 Westmoreland Road on Friday, July 11. Many thanks to the staff of Bobby’s Hospice for their comfort and care during these past few weeks. For those who wish, remembrances to St. Mary & St. Bartholomew’s Church, Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
