NICKERSON, Marjorie Marlene (Smith), (April 5, 1938 – July 12, 2014) Saint John, N.B., formerly of Cape Sable Island, N.S. was the daughter of the late Marsden and Lula Smith, loving wife of the late Wellington (Weldon) Nickerson. She leaves to mourn her one daughter, Cheryl Lee (James) of Ontario. Three sons, Irason (Francine), Saint John, LeRoy (Debbie), Saint John and Wellington “Junior” (Zena), Cape Sable Island. She was blessed with several grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the light of her life. Marjorie has six surviving siblings – Lois Duchack of Boston, Osgood Ross, Cape Sable Island, Irason Ross (Joan) Fredericton, Ruby May (Wes), Cape Sable Island, Valda Justason (Stan), Ontario (“Bal” was more like a special daughter than a sister) and Linda Swim (Robert), Cape Sable Island, along with nieces and nephews. Marjorie worked for many years at Red Rose Tea where she made many lifelong friends. After her retirement she owned and operated three Senior Care Homes where she gave top quality care to her residents. For over 30 years she loved summering at Wally’s Campground at the Narrows with her best friends, Betty, Larry and Lil. Once her Christmas decorations were put away out came the “camping boxes” to be filled and the days counted until she could get to Wally’s. Besides the death of Weldon, her greatest heartbreak was the loss of her oldest son, Frankie who she loved and spoke of daily remembering his kindness and stories for every occasion. She was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Marjorie will always be remembered as a wonderful, loving, Caring Mom, super Nan and Great Nan (always having a candy dish filled and ready to sneak to the children on their visits). What more could any family ask for. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their tremendous caring touch given to Marjorie during her stay there. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m., Thursday at H.M. Huskilson`s Funeral Home, Barrington. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, July 18 from the H.M. Huskilson`s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, Rev. Robert Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Old Kirk Cemetery, North East Point. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
