VICKERS, MARIE - It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Marie Catherine (McKay) Vickers of Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton, NB who passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Marie, formerly of Newcastle, NB was the daughter of the late Thomas and Katherine (Whelan) McKay. Marie was a former teacher and homemaker and past member of St. Mary’s Senior Choir. Her love for her family, music and prayer will always be remembered. Marie is survived by five daughters: Pauline Vickers (Ernest) of Halifax, NS, Charlotte Russell (John) of Hanwell, NB, Eileen Connors (Kevin) of Dartmouth, NS, Barbara Norick (Rick) of Regina, SK and Carmel Donaldson (Bruce) of Charlottetown, PE; two sons: Keith (Debbie) of Newcastle, NB and Albert (Martha) of Bathurst, NB; fourteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marie is predeceased by her husband Allan and infant son Paul.
Visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 26, 2014 from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church at 11 am with Father Tom Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. In Marie’s memory a donation may be made to St. Mary’s Senior Choir.
