SURETTE, Edmund Joseph – age 80, of Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau, passed away peacefully at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, on July 26, 2014 with his loving family by his side. Born November 23, 1933 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Pierre and Anne Rose (Pothier) Surette. Edmund was a loving husband, the best father ever and loved his grandsons dearly. Edmund spent his working life as a carpenter. He also refinished bowling alleys and hard wood floors. His enjoyment was deer hunting and fishing. Edmund was a 3rd Degree Knight, Council 8988 Tusket, Bishop Albert Lemenager Council. Edmund leaves behind to mourn his loving wife of 54 years, Irene (Muise) Surette; son, Edmund (Denise) Surette; two grandsons, Gavin and Owen Surette of Middle Sackville; and a son like nephew, Peter Muise, Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau; brother, Richard (Florence) Surette, Wakefield , Mass.; many brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews who loved their uncle dearly. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Ambrose and Edward Surette; sister, Marjorie Burke. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. A visitation was held on Wednesday, July 30 from 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m. in Yarmouth. A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in Saint Anne’s Catholic Church, Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau, Father Albenie d’Entremont officiated. Family flowers only. An interment was held in the parish cemetery following the funeral. Donations in Edmund’s memory may be made the Nova Scotia Lung Association or Saint Anne’s Church.
